What is a Curtain Drain?
We are building a curtain drain around the house. You can see where the water was not draining out of the court after heavy rains.
We like to dig a trench that is at least 14 inches wide and 14 inches deep, this one ended up being 17 inches wide and 21 inches deep.
With a curtain drain, you want to catch all the runoff water from the patio and pick up the downspouts by having it pour over the drain.
We want the water to drain away quickly, we don’t want it to stick around and saturate the soil.
This property doesn’t have a nearby storm sewer so we need to bring the water out to the road.
This drain will also collect the water coming off of the neighbour’s driveway towards this house and this downspout.
