Why Run Parallel Pipes in a French Drain?
Why use two drainage pipes? In an area that’s fairly flat and has a large amount of saturated soil, running a single pipe would not be enough. With parallel pipes, this french drain will take care of drawing the water out of the subsoil three feet on either side.
Now, if you are putting a French drain in the middle of a marshland, that’s a different scenario. That’s going to take all the water it will work. In this instance, we needed two pipes. This trench needed to be 16 inches deep. We excavated all the dirt out and are working toward the discharge location for this system.
We are using our mini-excavator, filling our two Ditch Witches. We are running dirt out to the road. We are going to keep going with this run and take it right out to the discharge area.
